Cougar sophomores, get your pencils ready.

All Kennedy High School sophomore students will be given the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) on Wednesday, Oct. 15. The test predicts a score range for how a student might preform on the SAT. The PSAT is used to find students across the United States for National Merit Scholarships. “It helps reflect how college ready a student is,” said Kennedy counselor Lori Clore.

The main reason the test is given to students is to practice test taking skills, help determine which advanced placement classes a student should take and show what core class subjects need more attention.

Students will be taking the test at Kennedy High School in the large gymnasium.  The test will begin around 8 a.m.  and end around 11:30 a.m. Students do not need to register or pay for this exam- it is free of charge to all Kennedy sophomores. They should bring their school ID and a calculator to school that day. Cell phones will not be allowed during the testing period.

“Students will most likely be eating B S.M.A.R.T lunch that day,” Clore said.
