Scream Acres

Prepare to be scared.

Scream Acres, in Atkins, Iowa, will have you jumping, crying, and frightened. “I was yelling the entire time. It was so scary,” Courtney Fisher, sr., said, who went Oct. 10.

Scream Acres has been opened since Oct. 3 and will be open every Friday and Saturday night in October. The fun begins at 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“I waited an hour and a half in line,” Fisher said. To avoid the anxious wait you can now purchase the new V.I.P tickets which allow you to cut in front of the line. General admission prices are $20 and the V.I.P tickets cost $35. Tickets can be bought online or at the gate.

With 2,800 square feet of carnival themed surprises you are bound to get the heebie-jeebies scared out of you. The spooky, Halloween attraction has two haunted houses and a haunted corn maze with many creepy scenes.

“I like the jail scene because we have a lot of hiding spots and we can scare people in a lot of ways,” Cameron Roehlk, sr., said.

Roehlk works during the day at Bloomsbury Farm then turns into a “scarer” at night. He has worked at Scream Acres for the past two seasons.

“The reaction you get from people after you scare them is my favorite thing,” Roehlk said.
