School Canceled March 9 as Kennedy Boy’s Basketball Heads to State
Kennedy boys basketball is competing in the state tournament on March 9 at 10:30 a.m. against Waukee Northwest. The game will be held at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
All Kennedy classes, in-person and online, have been canceled on Wednesday to allow students to attend the tournament and support their peers. Teachers whose classes were canceled can still assign work to be completed remotely by students for the day.
Kennedy is facing Waukee Northwest with Kennedy’s 20-3 win-loss ratio to Waukee’s 20-4. With almost-equal player and group stats, the teams are evenly matched.
Buses are currently available for 100 students and will depart at 7:45 a.m. from Kennedy on Wednesday. Securing a seat costs $15. Sign-ups will be available starting Thursday, March 3.
If Kennedy defeats Waukee, the team’s next game will be the following day on March 10 at 5:30 p.m. School will not be canceled if they advance in the state tournament.
