The Kennedy High School cross country teams will run in the state qualifiers meet at the Dubuque Soccer Complex in Dubuque, Iowa on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The Girls race begins at 4 p.m. and the Boys race at 4:30 p.m. Nine other teams will run against Kennedy. Bethany Smeed, a junior on the Kennedy Girls Cross Country team, is hopeful the meet will go well.

“It’s been a great season,” Smeed said. “Practices have been going well, and we ran the course last week so we are familiar with it and most of the competition that will be there.”

The first 15 finishers and the top three teams of each race will run in the state meet on Friday, Oct. 30. Brian Annis, the coach of Kennedy Boys Cross Country, hopes Kennedy will be one of those three teams.

“We need to go out and do our best and see if we can knock off a ranked team and make it to state again,” Annis said.
