The girls’ substate pairing has been released and Kennedy (8-6) drew Cedar Rapids Jefferson (6-9) at home in the first round on Feb. 13. Kennedy and Jefferson played each other once already this season with Kennedy coming out on top 54-42. Kennedy is scheduled to play Jefferson one more time this season on Feb. 1 at Kennedy.

The winner of this game would travel to No. 10 Waterloo West (11-4) On Feb.16. Kennedy has already played Waterloo West this season and came out with a 67-58 victory. Since that loss to Kennedy, West has a record of 7-1 including a victory over Iowa City, City High. Kennedy and Waterloo West don’t face each other again this season.

The winner of that matchup will face the winner of No.3 Des Moines East (14-1) and Marshalltown (3-14) on Feb 19 in Saydel. Des Moines East holds impressive wins over No.1 Ankeny, No. 6 Southeast Polk, and No. 8 Cedar Rapids Washington.

Kennedy has been playing without two starters for some time this season. Senior Forward Taylor Wagner is expected to return this season after suffering a knee injury on Jan. 5. Junior Morgan Martin’s return is questionable this season after  suffering a knee injury early in the season on Nov. 29.
