Kennedy sent six wrestlers to the state tournament on Feb 19 and after day one five are still standing.
Through the first day of competition, freshman Thayen Hagstrom (107lbs) won his first match against Jack Litton (Iowa city), and will face off against Cruz Gannon (Dowling Catholic) Thursday.
Senior Max Panosh (120lbs) won his first match against Juan Avalos (Ceballos), lost his second against Sawyer Nelson (Council Bluffs). Panosh will face off against Trace Rial (Fort Dodge) Thursday.
Sophomore Grahm Burkert (126lbs) won his matches against Danny Cleveland (Sioux City) and Aiden Kirk (Prairie) on Wednesday. Burkert wrestles Caiden Lounsbury (Cedar Falls) on Thursday.
Junior Aidyn Roman (144lbs) won his two matches against Paxton Behrends (Waverly Shell Rock) and Miles Vander Veld (Council Bluffs) one Wednesday. He will compete against Cody Trevino (Bettendorf) later Thursday.
Senior Anthony Keys (285lbs) secured his place in the Quarter Finals yesterday with wins against Elias Parton (Urbandale) and Cary Cox (Pleasant Valley). Keys will face Mason Hinrichs (Waverly Shell Rock) on Thursday.
Sophomore Timmy Zachar (180) got knocked out of competition losing both matches on Wednesday.
Going into Thursday’s matches five out of six Kennedy wrestlers will wrestle to try and secure their spot in the finals.
