John F. Kennedy’s marching band, “Echoes of the Last,” kicked off this season at Kingston Stadium on Sept. 5th with their first public performance.
The band introduced their show with “Toxic” by Britney Spears, bringing new dynamics and energy to the field.
“I think this show will be easily enjoyed by people in the band and people who aren’t. I like how our opener is a song people know,” said junior, flute section leader, Avery Campbell.
The band aims to uphold its reputation throughout the new season after placing first at Starfest with its show “Shattered” last year. Furthermore, the team was rewarded Best Overall Music Performance, Best Drumline, and Best Overall Visual Performance, obtaining a total of 829 points.
“I’m really hoping we can place more consistently higher, especially at our bigger competitions like Valley,” said sophomore, leadership team member, Raegan Riecks. “Which is definitely possible based on what has already happened this season.”
The band has its goals and expectations for the season, eager to see what potential the future holds.
“Just to get better. Every season we raise the bar a little more, but this year we are setting the standard,” said band director, Stephanie Williamson.
With high hopes, the band strives to progress with their show, “Echoes of the Last.”
