Kennedy Cheerleading has been going on for over nine years and is coached by Shelby Patterson. In addition to Patterson, Kennedy Cheer welcomed two former cheerleaders as new coaches, Tenaya Kovach and Aly Maloney.

“My favorite thing about cheer is creating teams that have the abilities to spread school spirit and to support all athletes,” Patterson said. “It has been so wonderful to see the sport grow from what it was when I first started.”

This year Kennedy had the most people try out for the team in years. There was a JV team made for football cheer and they even had enough girls to make a team for girls wrestling.

“I have a lot of memories throughout the years,” Patterson said. “There are always things that happen, but I would say my favorite memory would be bringing back the Junior Cheer Clinics. They went away during the time period I wasn’t a coach so I was very happy to be able to start those again.”

Cheer tryouts for 2024-25 will be on March 28 in the west gym from 5-8 p.m.
