Tryouts for Kennedy cheerleading are coming soon. Tryouts are open to students grades 8-11 attending Kennedy next year. A tryout clinic will be held Monday, March 20, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the West Gym. All material required for the final tryout will be taught at the clinic.

Final tryouts will be Thursday, March 23 in the choir room from 5 to 8 p.m. Results and team announcements will be shared on Friday, March 31. Students trying out are required to follow guidelines from the Iowa Cheer Association at both the clinic and final tryout. Hair must be pulled back and out of the athlete’s face, no jewelry can be worn and fingernails must be no longer than the tips of the finger.

Kennedy cheerleaders only cheer at varsity events for football, boys’ and girls’ basketball and boys’ and girls’ wrestling. Teams are made up of students grades 9-12. Athletes are able to try out for both a fall and winter sport or just for one.

Interested students need to fill out the tryout form found here. More information is on the Kennedy athletic website and if you have any questions you can contact Head Coach Shelby Patterson at [email protected].
