On Monday, Feb. 13, postseason brackets were released for all high school basketball classes in Iowa. The cougars have been placed in Substate Bracket 4, along with Davenport West, Davenport North, Burlington, Clinton and North Scott. Kennedy will play the winner of the Davenport West and Davenport North game on Feb. 24 in the Cougar Den. Following the semi-final games, the winners of each bracket will play the state qualifier games at a third-party school before moving on to the Well in Des Moines.

We have put ourselves in a good position heading into the Sub-State play,” said Head Coach Jon McKowen. Kennedy remains the only undefeated team in class 4A and one of a handful of undefeated teams in the state following a win against Des Moines Valley on Feb. 11.

The final two games of the regular season will be played against Xavier on Feb. 14 and against Waterloo West on Feb. 16.

“We have to continue to play well to beat the teams in our sub-state,” McKowen said. “We will take it one game at a time.”
