All Kennedy Speech Goes to State
All six Kennedy speech teams are going to state after qualifying in the Jan. 21 district competition at Vinton Shellsburg.
Improv teams, ensemble acting and short film are going to compete at state on Feb. 4. All teams compete against separate schools for a spot in the all-state competition.
Improv teams competed first at districts with Annie Gooden, Grace Gooden, Max Gooden and Maclane Bryner performing “Cats watching People”. The second team of Calliope Matta, Paxton Hamilton-Bailey and Tori Paga performed “You Have Lost Something”. Next was the ensemble acting teams Haile Miller and Tori Paga performing “You” and “1-800”. Followed by one act performing “Liver for Breakfast” starring Annie Gooden, Calliope Matta and Haile Miller. Finally a short film with “Is it Worth it?” competed and qualified.
The next competition is at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids on Feb. 4 with the first acts beginning at 8 a.m. There is a $3 goodwill donation but it is not required, even just coming to support the teams is appreciated.
