In this one-sided season opener on Nov. 29, the Cougars ended the first quarter only allowing four points from the Wolves. Continued a dominant defensive streak throughout the game involving 4 blocks by junior Mikah Schlakk and 3 steals by senior Carter Newhouse. As for the offensive side of the ball, it seemed like once the boys got going, they couldn’t stop. As soon as the game returned after halftime, the Cougars started a hot streak, scoring 26 points and allowing just 9, putting the game even further out of reach for the Wolves.

Seniors Kenzie Reed and Colby Dolphin, along with junior Trevan Krumrei all finished the game with 11 points, accounting for 40% of the 82-37 final score. The sophomore team also played the Wolves ending their game with a score of 78-35.

Kennedy starts 1-0 and faces inner-city rival Cedar Rapids Jefferson in what should be a thrilling, boys and girls varsity doubleheader on Friday, Dec. 9.
