Solo and Ensemble Contests Taking Place in Early April

162 Kennedy band and orchestra students registered to compete against fellow young musicians on April 2 for the City Solo and Small Ensemble Contest.
A few musicians have chosen to continue into the State Solo and Small Ensemble Contest the following weekend on April 9.
Solo and Ensemble contest is an event hosted by the Iowa High School Music Association (IHSMA). Musicians can choose to compete with a solo, duet trio or a small ensemble. After competing, the musicians will be ranked on a scale of one to three based on their performance.
In 2022, the City Contest will be held at Jefferson High School and the State Contest will take place at Prairie High School.
