Jersey Bilyeu, Writer

Starting in August, 120 band students gathered on the field and in the band room to start preparing for the 2021 marching season. On Tuesday, Oct 20, the Kennedy Marching Band performed one last time during the Band Extravaganza.

The season provided much success for the marching band winning 3rd at the Linn-Mar Marching Band Invitational, division 1 at State Marching Band Festival, 8th place at Valley Fest in West Des Moines, and 2nd at Music on the Mississippi in Clinton.

Charlotte Ottemoeller, jr., was awarded best drum major twice for the season, first at Linn-Mar Marching Band Invitational and secondly at Music on the Mississippi.

This isn’t the end for the Kennedy band program, in the near future students will be performing in the Jazz, Concert, and Symphonic bands along with Wind Symphony. As well as pep-band and a trip to Ireland during spring break 2022.
