Happiness Inc., Kennedy’s top show choir traveled to Nashville Tennessee over the weekend to perform at nationals. The group left on a charter bus early Thursday morning. The group stayed the weekend at the Gaylord Opryland Resort.

The competition included high school and middle school show choirs from all regions of the country. Only the first twenty show choirs that responded to the invite were accepted to compete at nationals.

Happiness performed Friday night at the Grand Ole Opry House and then earned a spot competing in finals the next morning.

“Finals was super fun because we knew it was our last performance of the season so we competed the best we could,” Olivia Weigel, sr., said. “It was a really cool experience to be able to perform at such an amazing place.”

The Happiness show choir group took home a sixth place trophy at nationals. The group performed four songs in the competition. They also received an award for the best tech crew. After receiving their awards all of the show choir groups were invited to the Wild Horse Saloon where a live band played.

“There were a lot of ups and downs with our show this year,” Adam Walker, sr., said. “We didn’t do as well as we wanted to, but in the end after we went through a few clinics to get us ready for Nashville it worked out.”

Happiness left Sunday morning, returning to Kennedy around 7 p.m.

“It is truly amazing to see our hard work pay off and it seems weird for it all to be over already,” Weigel said.
