Half-day Fridays will start next year
Early release on Fridays is one component of the new school schedule for the 2016-17 school year that the Cedar Rapids school board just approved. Classes will let out 90 minutes early every Friday.
The school year will run from Aug. 23, 2016 to June 1, 2017 with winter break from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2 and spring break from Mar. 13 to 17.
