Kennedy Volleyball took down the number one team in the state tonight. Not only that, but they beat them in three straight sets.

Cedar Falls, who defeated Kennedy twice at the tournament in Osage on Saturday, went down in three consecutive sets with scores of 25-14, 26-24, and 25-18. Big contributors to the win were spikers Macy Anderson, Brinley Milbrath, and Paige Franck, as well as several key saves by Anna Fluent and Tianna Drahn.

According to head coach Michelle Goodall, a key to this victory was preparation.

“We have very specific defensive arrangements, and if we stick to that, we’ll be alright,” Goodall said before the game.

As the game progressed, the Cougars did stick to their defensive arrangements.

“The kids were on task and they did their job. I said if they did their defense they’d be alright, and they did,” Goodall said after the game. “Hats off to the kids for their focus.”

At this point in the season, a key victory like this is huge.

“This is an important part of the season,” Goodall said, “Our regional pairings will be coming up soon and they’ll be based on this part of the season.”
