Kennedy students go to All-State for Speech

After a long season starting in December, 44 Kennedy students made it to All-State for Speech.

“We had a good season because we have a lot of talented students and fun pieces that we are doing and everyone put in the work necessary to be successful,” Melissa Osborn, speech coach, said.

Kennedy has nine different groups that made it to All-State: One Act-A Raisin in the Sun, two group improvisation, Footloose-Musical Theatre, Aladdin-Musical Theatre, Nature Documentary-Short Film, Saved These Words-Choral Reading, Amicable Parting-Ensemble Acting, and Greater Tuna-Ensemble Acting.

This was the first time ever that Kennedy had their Short Film make it to All-State.

“We had really great leadership,” Osborn said. “We had students who stepped up to take on directing roles, and leadership roles and that makes a huge difference.”

All-State will be held on Saturday, February 21, in Ames.
