CRCSD to Distribute COVID-19 Vaccines to Students Ages 12-15
The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for children ages 12-15 on May 10. The Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD) plans to distribute the vaccine to the new age range at four high schools pending final approval from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
The first dose of the Pfizer vaccine will be available this Friday, May 14 at Washington High School from 7:30-9 a.m and Kennedy High School from 9:45-11:15 a.m. Metro and Jefferson High School will distribute the vaccine from 12-1:30 p.m. Students who get the vaccine on May 14 will receive their second dose Friday, June 4.
All students who want to receive the vaccine must be enrolled at a high school. They also must fill out a pre-vaccination form and a Parental Consent Form. Those forms can be found here.
