Last Monday the JFK mens golf team won the MVC golf championship, for the eighth consecutive year.

Davis Sutton, sr., received the MVC player of the year award. Cole Murdock, sr., Connor Koberg, sr., and Sutton all received first team all MVC. Tanner Stewart, sr., and Ross Grekoff, sr., received second team all MVC.

The mens golf team won the championship shooting 300, with their closest competitor 59 strokes away.

With such success this year, younger players have seen what it takes to get success.

“This group of seniors have been the best to come through Kennedy”, Cameron Stump, jr., said. “To learn from them and become friends with them has made me a better player”.

Not only are the Cougars athletically talented, but they are doing well in the classroom as well. Seth Nutt, sr., and Grekoff were named All-Academic.

“It is kind of intimidating looking up to such successful golfers, especially at first. Once you get used to it they push you to get better and compete for a spot”, Jordan Weiss, jr., said.

The Varsity golf team is working for a state title and have placed runner up in two 4A state championships.

They believe that this senior class can lead them to a state championship.

“Davis Sutton is my role model, he has been mentoring me sense my first year”, Stump said. “He goes out of his way to play the course with me outside of practice and the season”.

“I’m excited to see what next year brings filling in their shoes,” Stump said.
