Stump commits to Simpson

Mac Stump, sr., has verbally committed to play soccer for Simpson College next year.

Stump took advice from one of her high school teammates in choosing her school. “I took advice from Kaela Dickerman and she said that how she decided was whatever school she was comparing to the other ones is the school she would go to. I kept on comparing other schools to Simpson,” Stump said.

Her first year she will play defense, her second year she will play midfield, and after that she will play forward for Simpson. She really liked the laid back atmosphere of Simpson and how comfortable they made her feel when she visited.

Andrew McKnight is the coach for the soccer team at Kennedy and he thinks Stump is a versatile player. “(She) can play as a defender or mid-field player and is a good soccer player with quick feet…I haven’t decided where I’m going to play her this year,” McKnight said.

Last year Stump played in 19 of 21 games and started 18 of those. This year she is returning to a team that won the state championship last year, defeating Ankeny 2-1 in the final.
