With another win against Iowa City West and the final games of the regular season nearing in the following weeks, the “Road to The Well” has officially started for the Kennedy Boys’ Basketball Team. Following nine straight weeks of wins, the Cougars are currently the only undefeated team in class 4A basketball. Wins against in-town rivals and new school records have made this season one for the record books.

The team is led by senior and Kirkwood-commit Colby Dolphin with 266 points, junior Micah Schlaak with 114 rebounds and 122 assists from Upper Iowa commit senior Kenzie Reed. Keeping the number one spot in class 4A, there seems to be nothing the basketball team can’t handle.

Coming off of a fourth-place finish last year in the state tournament and an overall record of 21-4, excitement is building for the possibility of becoming state champions. In the final week of the regular season, the Cougars will take on Iowa City High, Des Moines Valley, Cedar Rapids Xavier and Waterloo West for senior night on Feb 16. Postseason brackets will be released the week of Feb 13.
