May MAP Tests Canceled for Kennedy High School

The Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) tests planned for Kennedy High School students to take during May have been canceled.

Previously, Kennedy students took MAP tests the week of Jan. 1 in their math, science and language arts classes. Seniors did not take the MAP tests.

In a typical year, MAP tests are taken three times: once in fall, once in winter and once in spring. Kennedy students’ first MAP testing happened in winter, so they would have taken the tests one more time before the end of the year.

MAP tests prioritize measuring student growth above student proficiency. The tests are taken often to provide students, parents and administrators with information about how their students are learning. Since the May MAP tests will be skipped, the scores will show growth over a longer period of time than normal.

MAP testing is planned to resume in the 2021-2022 school year, but no dates have been set yet.
