Kennedy boys’ basketball vs. Waterloo East

Gabby Olejniczak, Writer

After playing a very quick and scrappy Waterloo East team, the sophomore Cougars basketball team fell to the Trojans 74-69. The Cougars, ahead at half by 34-33, battled to stay ahead much of the second half before the final score was posted. Leading scorers were Matt Berst with 21, Malik Haynes with 14 and Carter Krall with nine points.

The Cougar varsity team also experienced a very fast paced game against the Trojans. East tried to outlast the Cougars with their quickness and aggressiveness, but the Cougars hung on and came up with some big baskets to post another win. Brendon Manning led the Cougars with 14 points, Bryton Heisler had 13 points and Zach Daniels ended with 11 points. The varsity Cougars ended up winning, 73-63. The Cougar varsity team faces Cedar Rapids Washington at Wash at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.
