On Friday, Jan. 18, Kennedy hosted the Kennedy Band Carnival. Its performances involved a total of about 400 music students from Kennedy, Harding, and Franklin.
The Carnival began at 5:00 with a performance by the Color Guard, and ran through 9:00 with performances by all of Kennedy’s concert bands, both of Kennedy’s jazz bands, Harding Middle School’s 7th grade band, 8th grade band, and jazz band, and both of Franklin Middle School’s jazz bands.
According to Jared Wacker, one of Kennedy’s band teachers, the band carnival is a “recruiting thing” in order to give students from Harding and Franklin experience in playing at Kennedy.
In addition to the musical performances, there were also food and games set up in the cafeteria.
“It’s fun for everyone,” said Lesley Fleer, one of the band teachers at Kennedy.
