Substate pods for the 2013 season have been released as Kennedy (6-3) looks to reach the state tournament for the first time since 2008. Kennedy drew Western Dubuque (11-0), Cedar Falls (9-2), Waterloo East (8-3), Waterloo West (5-4), and Cedar Rapids Washington (1-10) in their pod.
Western Dubuque is the highest ranked team in their pod as they are 11-0 on the season. Last season Western Dubuque played in 3A and lost in the state championship game. They currently play in a 3A conference and has only played one 4A team this season, Washington, who they beat 63-39.
Kennedy beat Waterloo West this season 57-49 but they lost to Washington 53-50 as well this season. Kennedy plays Waterloo East tonight and Cedar Falls in February but they don’t play Western Dubuque this regular season.
Substate parings will be released on Feb. 4.
