As the summer season is approaching, the citizens of cedar rapids have been ecstatic for the grand opening of 7 Brew drive thru coffee shop. June 2nd is when the location at 155 Collins Rd NE will open. There has been talk on several news sources, including KCRG, about a second location opening near Edgewood Road. However, 7brew has not posted the date for the Edgewood location to open.
The name “7 Brew” comes from the coffee shop’s seven original drinks offered when the store first opened in Rogers, Arkansas in 2017. These seven originals include the Blondie, Brunette, Smooth 7, Cinnamon Roll, White Chocolate Mocha, German Chocolate, and Sweet and Salty. On top of these originals, 7Brew also offers a variety of mixed drinks. Several workers have mentioned that the 7 energy’s is their favorite drink offered on the menu. Other notable mentions from baristas are thier 7-Fizzes (sparkling water infused with any flavor), teas, lemonades, smoothies, and even shakes. As 7 Brew haved prepared for the grand opening, newly employed baristas are also preparing for the long awaited day.
“I’m excited for everyone in our community to try it because it is so good,” said Sophomore Addy Phillips. “I’m also so excited overall with working with my friends and just having fun at my job.”
The new popular coffee shop has now provided jobs for a variety of individuals around the Cedar Rapids area, giving new employees something to look forward to with the beginning of summer being near.
“The reason I applied to 7 Brew is because of the good energy and an amazing atmosphere,” said Prairie Alumni Ava Webb. “I have met so many amazing new people from this job.”
As Baristas are surrounded by the menu 24/7, it seems as though they have all pinpointed their favorite drinks are also their favorite to create for customers.
“My favorite drink personally is the blue raspberry energy with white chocolate,” said Webb. “My favorite drinks to make are any of our seven originals because pulling shots from the espresso machine is so fun.”
On May 30th, baristas started their first actual day of work. 7 Brew offered a “Family and Friend Hour” which implied family and friends were provided with free large drinks per customer.
“I had a lot of fun getting the chance to make the drinks in a fast-paced environment with actual customers,” said Webb. “I was there from 7 to 10 am and the line was enormous the whole time.”
A positive work environment is always an add-on when it comes to looking for a new place of employment.
“I’m so excited for my new job, the atmosphere is incredible and everyone just has a good time,” said graduate Marion senior Ella Griffin. “I’ve just finished training so I’ve spent a good amount of time there already. It honestly doesn’t even feel like work, it’s so enjoyable.”
7 Brew is offering more exciting days coming up soon. One, including “Swag Day” on Jun. 7, which means every customer who purchases a large drink will also receive a free t-shirt. As the day is approaching, the drive-thru coffee shop is ecstatic to offer its variety of drinks to the public.
“I’m so excited for everyone to try the drinks,” said Griffin. “ Swag day is also gonna be super awesome, the shirts are cute and you can never go wrong with one of our handmade drinks.”
Family and Friends day had customers wrapped around the building for the chance to get a free drink from the new shop.
“There were so many happy customers on family and friends day it makes me even more excited for our grand opening.” Said Webb.
