Marina Mesch is a 20 year old licensed cosmetologist. In today’s society, it’s normal to walk into a nail salon and pay up to $100 dollars for a nail set. Mesch proves that her more reasonably priced services make better use of time and money spent.
Mesch graduated from Capri College in 2023 and continues to work out of a small salon suite at Aurora Blush in Marion Iowa. Mesch offers all of her salon services in this suit. When you enter the room, you are greeted with a warm welcoming space. Mesch has personalized decorations which makes the room feel more personal and comfortable to be in for long periods of time. Inside this space, Mesch has separate areas to do nails, hair, and custom spray tans.
Silence between a tech and their client in nail salons can be awkward. However, the experience Mesch provides for all of her clients is above and beyond. Throughout your service, she makes an effort to connect and get to know her clients more personally.
“So many of my clients I’ve gotten close to over time.” Mesch said. “Especially the ones who have been coming to me from the start and trusting me when I didn’t even know what I was doing. Many of them I consider friends and have gotten to know each other deeper than a professional level.”
Throughout her career, Mesch has moved to several different locations. This September is when she first had the opportunity to have her own private suite.
“Having my own room brings much more of a personal experience,” Mesch Said. “Feels much more like my own, being able to personalize and decorate it how I want to. Also, it’s more private so my clients feel more comfortable sharing their personal lives and creating a deeper relationship.”
Since opening her own business, Mesch has done nothing but share her talent with others, as an artist and a business owner.
“I’ve grown so much in the past year in every aspect.” Mesch said. “My skills have progressed so much, I’ve had multiple different space changes, and my books went from 20% full to completely full a majority of the time.”
Mesch would not be this booked unless she had outstanding talent. Individuals tend to be particular when it comes to getting nail work done. However, girls around town have gotten their nails done with Mesch and continue to see her on a regular basis.
“I’ve been going to Marina since August of 2024,”Marion High School senior Ella Griffin said. “I continue going to Marina as I have never been unhappy with any nails Marina has provided for me, which is not the case at salons. At salons, they tend to change or not do what they were asked, but that has never happened with Marina.”
Mesch’s precise and articulate designs don’t go unnoticed by her loyal clients. Multiple of Marinas regular clients have referred a friend to Marinas services because of how consistent she stays with her work.
“Marina is the only person who has made sitting through a nail service a fun experience,” Mount Vernon junior Tallulah Norton said. “Her talent has given me some of the best nail sets I’ve ever had. Ever since I started booking with Marina I started suggesting friends to book with her.”
One of the highlights of her job is seeing her clients happy with the outcome after appointments. Mesch is a perfect example of somebody who loves their career in every aspect. Her hard work and dedication continues to have a positive impact on her clients.
“My favorite part of my job is getting to express myself creatively and being able to make people happy and feel beautiful at the same time,” Mesch said.
