Kennedy Girls Varsity Basketball heads into substate as the #3 seed in their region, with a record of 10-11.

First game for the Cougars is on Saturday, Feb. 22. They will be facing the #2 seed, the Iowa City West Trojans. The Trojans have a 14-8 record this season.

The Cougars will be led by Freshman Bentley Dill, who averages 16.4 PPG. Dill also leads the team in assists per game with 3.3. Senior center Lexi Moore leads the team in rebounds averaging 6.4 per game.

The Cougars faced the Trojans earlier this season and lost with a score 71-63.

After our loss against Iowa City West we felt as if we really got beat off the transitions and three pointers.  So we have been mainly focusing on getting back on defense and matching up right away, so they have less wide open shot opportunities,” senior guard Ella Moser said.

The winner will move on to the final game of substate, where they have a chance to punch their ticket to state.

The last state appearance for the Cougars was in 2014 against Muscatine.
