The Kennedy Varsity Boys Basketball Team picked up a win against the #11 ranked Iowa City West Trojans on Tuesday, Feb. 12. The Cougars will now play the last three regular season games before substate where they will look to punch their ticket to the playoffs.
Senior guard Trey McKowen led in scoring for the Cougars with 23 points, he also led in steals with six and tied senior Reuben Schlaak for most assists at four. Senior guard Pierce McCrary and junior guard Sharief Thomas tied for most rebounds in the game with four each.
“They’re a good team so being able to grind out a tough win was big for us, it’ll help us come postseason,” senior center Landon Deiters said.
The Cougars will travel to Iowa City to face off against Iowa City Liberty on Friday, Feb. 14, where they will look to continue their string of success. The Liberty Lightning are currently 2-17 this season.
“We’ve had a stretch of some tough games the past week. It feels great to get a good win against a good team and get back on track,” Schlaak said.
