The Kennedy Varsity Girls Volleyball Team defeated Davenport Central on Tuesday, Oct. 22 in 3 sets. This was the first round of the IGHSAU substate bracket. The Cougars are attempting to win a regional championship and punch their ticket to the state playoffs
Senior outside hitter Ady Hermanson led the Cougars in kills on Tuesday with 19 and contributed to the victory. Sophomore setter Charley Lovell led the team in assists with 22. Outside hitter Skyylan Ousley assisted with 19 successful serves and 4 aces.
“It felt exciting to win our last home game with everyone,” Phillips said. “The energy was great on and off the court and it was a great way for everyone, especially those who won’t be here next year to end our matches at home.”
The Cougars travel to Cedar Falls on Thursday, Oct. 24 to face the Cedar Falls Tigers in the second round of the IGHSAU substate bracket. The Tigers are 31-6 and are currently on a three-game winning streak.
