Free Mental Health Awareness Concert on May 9

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month so Iowa BIG and Nexus Entertainment are putting on a free Mental Health Awareness concert on Thursday, May 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the Groundswell Cafe in Cedar Rapids.

The event is paid for by Nexus Entertainment Arts as part of its initiative to support the well being of young people in Linn County. The concert is focused on putting a positive outlook on mental health. 

Performing is local hip-hop collective “319s Fines”, local rocker Jake Stack and California punk-rock band “Some Kind of Nightmare”.

Anyone can attend the concert but students must bring their student ID to get in for free and their is a cost for adults. Food and drinks will be available for purchase and donations are accepted to help destigmatize mental health.
