On Tuesday, April 10, Kennedy staff received an email notifying them that the vending machines throughout the school would be off until 3 p.m. Students are in an uproar and staff are over the discourse.
Kennedy Principal Jason Kline declined to comment on the reason for the shutdown, giving the only explanation of, “because I shut them off.”
Torch staff member and sophomore Talia Hutchison is in a tizzy over the incident.
“I literally get a Bubbl’r and bag of chips almost every day. Frankly, I’m outraged,” Hutchison said.
Senior Emma Beachner, another Torch staff member, couldn’t care less. She has a general idea of the reason for the shutdown but no one is sure whether or not this change will be permanent.
“I walked in this morning and saw the maintenance guys standing next to the machines, they’re probably just reprogramming them,” Beachner said. “It’s not that big of a deal, people need to calm down.”
We are clearly a staff divided, taken down by the fall of the vending machines.

I think it’s not right to turn the machines off. Students should be allowed to get things, even during lunch.
