Key Club is a student-led organization where members perform acts of service in their communities that has reopened its Kennedy chapter this year. These acts of service are called “projects” that any key club member may introduce if they feel it will impact the community.
“I feel Key Club has a massive impact on others,” advisor Hannah Crowell said. “Creating a positive impact through community service and participation is the foundation of our club’s purpose.”
Key club does projects such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives.
“We plan to create our own events to serve the community, participate in events put on by the community itself, and work jointly with our parent organization, the Kiwanis Club, to organize and participate in events,” Crowell said.
Crowell was approached by club president Tori Paga, who expressed her interest in reviving the club after its abrupt end in the 2021-2022 school year.
“I decided to restart Key Club because I truly believe it’s important for high schoolers to play an active role in their community and do their part for their community,” Paga said. “Especially because helping our community not only teaches us to value what we have and the opportunities we’ve been given but it also teaches us to be good leaders in society and how to just be a good person and treat others with kindness.”
Key Club meets bi-weekly after school on Wednesdays in room 262.
“I participated in Key Club when I was in high school and I remember the rewarding feeling I had when I served my community. That was enough for me,” Crowell said.
