On Sunday, Feb. 26, local radio station KZIA Z102.9 will host “Gown Town” from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Teenagers in the community can come to the Kirkwood Linn County Regional Center in Hiawatha to collect a free prom outfit.

Gown Town has partnered with local businesses to collect donations. Dresses are accepted at Citywide Cleaners, Herteen & Stocker Jewelers and the Kirkwood Linn County Regional Center.

KZIA ran two drive-up donation opportunities, one at Farmers State bank and the other at Citywide cleaners where donors could drop off a dress.

According to Farmers State Bank Vice President of Marketing Cassandra Kotek, the bank is thrilled to take part in the charity.

“Farmers State Bank is honored to host a Gown Town drop-off location,” Kotek said. “FSB strives to give back to the community every day, and this is a great way to do so.”

KZIA Morning Show Host Clare Duffy said Gown Town is a great example of what radio can do.

“We always want to do what we can to make the biggest impact; to reach anyone we can help and make prom night a possibility for everyone,” Duffy said.
