On Tuesday, Jan. 24th, Kennedy Girls’ JV2 Basketball lost a hard fight against Western Dubuque going 2-52. Even after the defeats of the season, the team continues to play and strive for improvement.

JV2 Head Coach Victoria Leyh shares the improvement and hard work the players have devoted thus far.

“We have come a long way…it’s a lot of these girls’ first years playing the sport and the first month we were still just learning how to be a team and work together,” Leyh said.

The group has a variety of athlete experiences, some having played for several years and freshmen new to the sport. Freshman point guards Grace TeBockhorst and Annie Garsayne lead plays consistently for the team.

“A lot of us didn’t know what to do in the beginning or even know how to do a layup, but now we understand the game and can play it,” Garsayne said.

Spectators can see the girls play Jefferson on Feb. 3 at 4:30 p.m.

“We have improved a lot on working together and not just individually,” TeBockhorst said.
