For all of us stuck at home this spring break, what is there to do in Cedar Rapids? 

Those interested in classic arcade games should hop on down to the Quarter Barrel, which features original, authentic arcade games. This, along with signature pizzas, can be a great way to start spring break.

Marcus Theatres offers a $5 Tuesday and a $6 student Thursday. With these low prices, why not catch the latest hit and enjoy movie theater popcorn with a refreshing drink? On the week of spring break, Marcus Theatres will air featured movies such as Pixar’s Onward and The Hunt.

Ready to experience the culture of Cedar Rapids? Head on down to the Newbo City Market and the downtown area. Newbo Market features locally farmed food vendors and hosts various events in Cedar Rapids. The market is open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Raygun, the nearby knick-knack shop, is also a neat place to visit. The shop offers unique t-shirts and other miscellaneous items.

One can also take a stroll and appreciate the downtown of Cedar Rapids, such as featured artwork and murals on buildings. In the center of downtown is a recreational area known as Green Square Park. The park features fountains and interesting sculpture artwork. 

Venture out to Mt. Trashmore for the Mt. Trashmore Challenge at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 19. This challenge consists of trekking up and down the treacherous mountain of trash 140 times. All participants receive an exclusive t-shirt. The total walking distance covered is equivalent to the vertical height of Mt. Everest. Are you up to the challenge?
