Kennedy varsity volleyball has started their season off with a bang and a record of 11-4.
The team opened the season with three match wins at the MAC/MVC conference challenge, and then followed up with a conference win over Cedar Rapids Prairie. They took second place at the Iowa City High Tournament and lost a tough battle against Dubuque Wahlert in conference play.
The team traveled to Des Moines last weekend and placed second of 20 teams. This week, they took three straight wins off Cedar Rapids Washington in their conference match up. The team played well, had fun and looked focused on its goal of winning in straight sets.
Along with winning games the team has also been active off the court as well. On Sept. 13, they held a Livestrong charity event with proceeds going to the Livestrong Foundation. Kennedy raised over $600 for the foundation, which will go towards cancer research. The team will also be participating in is Mercy Hospital’s Especially for You Walk, on Sunday Oct. 2. The charity walk will raise money for breast cancer research and local programs. All 125 registered members plan on walking the 5k together.
