The Transformation of the iPhone
November 20, 2017
Apple recently released their iPhone 8 and most talked about device, the iPhone X. Let’s recap on the many iPhone’s over the past 10 years.
The iPhone 1 was released in 2007 and had 4-GB of storage. This device had features like email, Safari web, text messaging, YouTube and a rear camera.
The next phone to be released was the iPhone 3G with 8-GB of storage. This phone was very similar to the first generation, except it had a GPS. The iPhone 3GS was later released and had voice control and video ability.
In 2010, the iPhone 4 was released including FaceTime and a front facing camera. The iPhone 4S was much like the 4, but included Siri.
“Comparing the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 7 plus, the iPhone 4 has a significantly slower charging speed, the camera quality is horrible and it is so small,” Rylee Hatfield, so., said.
Apple sold over 2 million iPhone 5’s in 24 hours after the release date. The iPhone 5 included Siri, but users could also work their phone with spoken commands and the keyboard could convert spoken words to text.
There was a huge design change made with the iPhone 6, including a larger phone, larger screen and a thinner width. This version included a plus size for all of the people who thought the iPhone 5 or regular 6 was too small.
The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are the first Apple device’s that have dual cameras on the back of the phone and that are waterproof. These iPhone’s do not have a headphone jack, which upset some of the buyers.
“When I realized the iPhone 7 Plus didn’t have a spot to plug in my headphones I was a little confused,” Maddie Prull, jr., said. “Now that I have the Plus, there really isn’t anything that I dislike about it.”
The two most recent Apple releases are the iPhone 8/8 Plus and the X.
The iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch display, costing $699. The iPhone 8 Plus has a 5-5 inch display, costing $799. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have an all glass design, wireless charging, are water resistant and offer the most popular and best quality camera (12 MP).
The newest Apple creation, the iPhone X has a 5.8-inch display, costing $999. The all screen appearance is very appealing to Apple buyers. This phone has stainless steel edges and “your face is your password,” Apple says. Some other features are the new, muscle moving Animoji’s, along with the wireless charging.
“Apple knows how to get people’s attention when introducing a new device,” Jordyn Cory, fr., said.
