Many students had big plans for their senior spring break trip. Spring break was Mar. 13 through Mar. 17 and a lot of students vacated together for some last high school memories.

“I went on a cruise to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, and Nassau with Sydney Kinney, Melissa Meis, Chloe Dunn, and Michaela Henneberry,” Morgan Shoemacker, sr., said.

There were a variety of vacation destinations for the seniors.

Montego Bay, Jamaica is where Calvin Mackin, Finn Duffy, Anthony Alepra, Tucker Maus, Jayden Lovell, Conner Peterson and a couple of their other friends from different schools went for spring break.

Groups were even as large as 14 people.

“A party of us including, Connor Crippes, Jordan Vaske, Zach Johnson, Gabbie Meyer, Julia Brewer, Kendal Meier, Megan Wagner, Haleigh Houston, Alexis Hull, Mikey Kaiser, Macy Schares, Jesse Price, Kim Fifield, Karlynn Fifield and I went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and got to beach it for the week,” Riley Patton, sr., said.

Some students traveled far away with a special family member instead of a large group.

“My sister and I went to Puerto Rico for the week. We originally planned to go to Canada but as spring break got closer, we decided warm weather sounded better,” Kerrigan Urbi, sr., said.

Spring break is a time to make memories and enjoy the nice break away from school.

“I will always remember the boat ride we took to swim with sharks and stingrays,” Patton said.

“My favorite part was getting extremely sun-burnt and coming back to Cedar Rapids tan,” Urbi said.

Others use spring break for relaxing and taking it easy.

“Hanging out with friends, playing beach volleyball and relaxing in the warm weather was the best part,” Peterson said.

Meeting new people on spring break is also a perk.

“It was so much fun meeting people and spending nights on the cruise with new friends,” Shoemacker said.

These spring breakers enjoyed their week together and are now looking forward to graduation in May.

“Being able to vacation with my friends was a perfect way to celebrate the end of high school before our final graduation ceremony,” Shoemacker said.
