Humans are naturally made to eat and store fat for the winter. It’s a fact derived from our ancient ancestors that’s been happening for thousands of years. The truth of why diets don’t work is because people quit eating the unhealthy foods their bodies are so used to eating, so the foods they do eat are stored as fat rather than protein because their body goes into famine mode. The body thinks it is starving to death.
The documentary taught me more information about the food products we put into our bodies than I ever thought I could know. For example, the main ingredient in blueberry muffins is also used to winterize motorhomes, according to Jon Gabriel, weight loss and visualization expert and the author and creator of The Gabriel Method. Another example: the diet soda millions of people consume every single day contains aspartame, which is known to cause cancer, blindness, and several other serious health problems. The reason aspartame is in diet soda is because it is 200 times sweeter than sugar and companies like Coca Cola can put in bold letters “Sugar Free!” on their cans to make people convinced diet soda is healthier than regular soda when in fact it is significantly worse.
