A Night on the Town, A Night to Remember

A Night on the Town, A Night to Remember

A Night on the Town is just what this year’s prom will be. From the Grand March city scene, to the dance being held at The Czech and Slovak Village Ballroom, prom night will be a night to remember.

Senior Class President Fatima Elsheikh, had a big role in making this night possible. Elsheikh has been leading the senior class in fundraising for prom.

“Throughout our four years we have been raising money. We started out with a couple fundraising events, we did muffin sales and donut sales for a while and we have hosted other events such as the Mr. Cougar contest, our latest biggest hit,” she said.

The events of prom night are as follows: Grand March will take place in the Kennedy gymnasium from 4:30 p.m. and will end at 6 p.m. During the Grand March, students who are attending prom have the opportunity to walk through the city scene and show off their tuxes and dresses. The Prom King and Queen will be crowned at the end of the Grand March.

“For the Grand March, we’re going towards a city theme, we will have a backdrop of city buildings, courtesy of Mr. Tolley, who has this all figured out and is really good at his job,” Elsheikh said. “As far as colors go, the city itself will be black and dark blue with lights and a gold walkway.”

After Grand March, many students will attend dinner at various places around the city. Again, a Night on the Town will be incorporated.

“My group will be going to Granite City for dinner,” Jess Wagner, sr., said.

The dance being held at the Czech and Slovak Village Ballroom will begin at 8 p.m. and end at 11 p.m.

“It should be awesome, we are excited about the location,” Elsheikh said.

To conclude the festivities of prom, those who attended will be able to attend a Post Prom event from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. at the Rockwell Collins Recreational Center. This year’s Post Prom will be similar to the previous year. In order to attend Post Prom, students must arrive at the Rockwell Collins Recreational Center by 12:30 a.m.

Post Prom will have a hypnotist ChrisJones, inflatables, basketball, dodge ball, and, of course, food.

ChrisJones was the hypnotist at last year’s Post Prom as well. Wagner attended the event.

“I was hypnotized so I guess it was fun but before I was hypnotized, I thought he was really funny,” Wagner said.

Elsheikh said she thinks everyone will enjoy the hypnotist show, no matter if they are hypnotized or not.
